The Federal Trade Commission: The FTC can and does take law enforcement action when consumers’ privacy rights are violated, and to make sure that companies live up to their promises to safeguard personal information. The FTC also plays an important role in protecting consumers’ financial privacy and enforcing the Children’s Online Pirvacy Protection Act (COPPA).

The California Privacy Protection Agency is the first dedicated privacy regulator in the United States. The California Privacy Rights Act establishes the Agency and vested it with the full administrative power to implement and enforce the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018.
